서애 류성룡 선생 묘소에 가다! Trip to the grave of Seo-ae, Ryu Seong-ryong![WDU 동양학과 조인철 교수] [Professor Zho In-Choul, the Department of Oriental Science, WDU] 묘지풍수에서 용을 매우 중요시합니다. The dragon is very important in the cemetery feng shui. 용이 생룡(生龍)으로 내려와서 가야 하죠. The dragon has to come down to be an alive dragon. 뒤까지 가 봐야 알겠지만, 산 전체로 크게 퍼져있다가 스물스물 내려가죠. You can see it in the back, but it spreads out all over the mountain and goes down slowly. 여기를 자세히 보면 내려오면서 이 안에서도 약간의 굴곡이 있고 저기가 가장 높은 곳이죠. Take a closer look here. As it comes down from here, there's a little bit of a curve here. That point is the highest. 원래는 이렇게 가야 하는데 여기서 (방향을) 틀었으니 이 자체도 생기(生氣)로 볼 수 있어요. It was supposed to go in this direction primarily, but it changed its course. So it can be seen as vigor. 혈장의 크기에 따라서 혈장의 중심에 놓은 거예요. It's placed in the center of the plasma depending on the size of the plasma. (혈장의) 중심에 놓아 안정적으로 만드는데, 여기로 내려와서 각도를 트는 것은 여기 혈장과 맞아요. It's centered stably, and it goes with the plasma of this place by coming down here and changing its direction. 광중(壙中)에서 관의 방향을 틀어 마늘봉과 맞추고, 그 위의 봉분은 지형의 균형에 맞추어 다른 형태로 만드는 거죠. The direction of a coffin in a burial pit was altered and aligned with the garlic summit. Then the burial mound was made into a different shape to meet the balance of the terrain. 몇 번의 각도가 달라지는 것이지요. 관(棺)의 각도도 달라지고 봉분의 각도도 달라지죠. The directions of the coffin and burial mound are adjusted a few times. 이쪽은 내려가고 여기는 상당히 평평하죠. 이건 용이 내려와서 이렇게 (방향을) 틀고 있는 형태죠. It goes down here and it's pretty flat here. This is in the form of dragon coming down and turning this way. 이쪽이 면(面)이고 저쪽이 배(背)가 되죠. 그러면 면 쪽으로 틀어 가야 하죠. This side is the front and that side is the rear. Then, it must turn to the front. 마늘을 깠을 때 마늘의 뿌리 부분 말고 위쪽의 뾰족한 부분을 닮았을 때 마늘봉이라고 해요. When you peel a piece of garlic, its top is sharp. The Garlic peak is similar to it. 저게 하회마을 충효당에서 보이지 않고, 양진당-풍산 류씨의 종갓집 대문에서 보면 개문견산법(開門見山法)으로 들어와요. You can see it not at Chunghyodang in Hahoe Village but through the main gate of Yangjindang-the head house of Pungsan Ryu's. [답사학생] "마늘봉"은 뭘 뜻하나요? [a student] What does "Garlic peak" mean? [WDU 동양학과 조인철 교수] 문필봉(文筆峯)의 다른 말이죠. [Professor Zho In-Choul] Another phrase from Moon-Pil(the shape of the point of a writing brush) peak. 중국의 운남성 쪽에 있었던 목국(木國)의 유적지 뒷산을 우연히 올라가 봤어요. I happened to climb the mountain behind the ruins of Mokguk at Unnamseong district in China. 좌측에 문필봉 같은 것이 서있고 우측에 어제 본 것과 같은 봉우리가 있었어요. There was a kind of Moon-Pil peak on the left, and on the right there was a peak similar to the one we saw yesterday. 가이드에게 물어보니 저게 암놈이고 이게 수놈이라고 설명했습니다. When I asked the guide about it, he explained that the former was the female and the latter was the male. 저게 붓이고 이게 붓대다. 이쪽의 붓을 들어 글씨를 쓰고 붓대에 걸어둔다. 음양이 맞으면서 좌우로 (놓여) 있었죠. That's the brush and this is the brush holder. It means picking up the brush and hanging it on the brush holder. The yin-yang applies to the terrain. 어제 도산서원에 가서 보니 붓은 없어요. 붓은 쓰고 있으니까. 그런데 붓대는 있어요. Yesterday I went to Dosan Seowon(an auditorium for lecture) and found that there was no brush since it was being used. But there was a brush holder. 한 분은 장남으로서 마을을 지키기 위해 노력했던 분이고, 류성룡 선생은 둘째로서 나라를 구하기 위해 힘썼습니다. One was the eldest son who tried to protect the village, and the other, Ryu Seong-ryong, was the second son and tried to save the country. 하회마을에 가보면 두 분의 형제간의 우애와 약간의 경쟁이 묻어 있죠. If you go to Hahoe Village, you will understand the slight rivalry with fraternity between them. 음택을 연구한다면 어떻게 해야 할까요? What should we search when we study the cemetery feng shui?가장 쉬운 논문은 비교하는 것입니다. The easiest research way is comparison. 서애 류성룡 선생의 성격과 삶을 조명하여 그의 성격에 맞는 땅인지 아닌지를 살펴보아야 합니다. And Ryu Un-ryong was buried in the mountain called Hwasan in Hahoe Village. 둘을 비교하여 상이한 점과 서로 통하는 점을 나열하여, Compare them and contemplate the differences and the interrelated points of them. 류성룡 선생은 외향적 성격을 가진 분으로 성격에 맞는 땅을 차지하였으므로 그에 맞는 보존을 해야 하겠죠. Ryu Seong-ryong was extroverted and was burried on the right land for his personality. Thus his grave should be preserved according to it. (현재)류성룡 선생과 류운룡 선생의 두 묘소의 성격을 비교한 논문이 없습니다.
